The waistband is the most-seen label on innerwear and sportswear — it is visible every time the garment is worn. That is why brands invest in jacquard elastic: the logo or pattern is woven directly into the elastic with coloured yarns, not printed on top, so it never peels, cracks or fades. Here is how the process works at Jai Roop Textile and what you need to prepare.

What "jacquard" means on elastic

A jacquard loom controls individual warp yarns, so it can weave letters, logos, stripes and repeat patterns into the tape as it is made. The design becomes part of the fabric structure. Compare this with printed or heat-transfer logos, which sit on the surface and wear off with washing.

Minimum order quantity

Custom jacquard elastic at Jai Roop Textile starts from a minimum order of 5,000 metres per design and colourway. The MOQ exists because each design needs its own loom set-up and yarn preparation. If you are launching a new brand, 5,000 metres typically covers a first production run of several thousand garments, depending on waist size.

What to send us with your enquiry

1. Artwork — your logo as a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF). A high-resolution PNG works for a first look.
2. Width — most branded waistbands are 32 mm to 50 mm; logos read clearly from 32 mm up. See our width guide.
3. Colours — background colour and logo colour(s). Pantone references or physical swatches are best.
4. Repeat — how often the logo repeats along the length (for example every 8 cm), or "continuous pattern".
5. Quantity and end use — innerwear, sportswear, kids' wear, etc. This helps us suggest the right stretch and softness.

The process, step by step

1. Design check — we review the artwork and advise on size, colour count and anything too fine to weave cleanly.
2. Digital simulation — you receive a visual of how the logo will look on the tape width.
3. Physical sample — a woven strike-off for approval on colour, sharpness and feel.
4. Bulk production — after sample approval, the 5,000 m+ order is woven in Gurugram.
5. Quality check and dispatch — length, width, stretch and colour are checked before packing.

Lead time depends on design complexity, colours and quantity — we confirm it in writing with the quotation rather than promising a generic number.

Design tips for a logo that weaves well

• Keep fine lines and small text to a minimum — woven yarn has a physical thickness.
• Strong contrast between background and logo reads best (black on white, white on navy, brand colour on black).
• Two or three colours are common; more colours are possible but affect cost and set-up.
• Leave clear space at the edges so the logo is not cut by stitching.
